Logos represent companies and their core value sometimes. Tech giants like Apple & Google want their logos unique and lovely at the same time. Google changed it’s logo time to time like Apple and some other tech companies. After becoming a sub company of Alphabet.Inc this is the significant change in Google. When Co-founders of Google, Larry Page & Sergey Brin were working on a project of building a search engine which is today known as Google, they named their Project as BackRub. It was the research project which later became popular as Google. The logo that was initially used in this research project features a scan of Larry Page’s hand with Back Rub written in the image using a computer.
Google’s pre-Launch Logo 1997:
This logo was designed when Google was a project at Stanford University. Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin were working on a search engine project named Google. They were Ph.D. students there.
Google Sep-Oct 1998:
This logo was in Baskerville Bold. It was used from September to October 1998 with a different color combination that we see today. It was made by Larry page himself using an open source software called as GIMP.
Google Oct 1998-May 30 1999:
This logo was used from October 1998 to May 1998.It differs from it’s the previous version as it had an exclamation mark and the color of G changed from Green to Blue. The exclamation mark was there to mock Yahoo!. Yahoo was the best search engine at that time. From that time the color sequence of Google’s Logo is same as it is today. There is more shade in this logo than the last one.
Google 31 May 1999-5 May 2010:
This time, the company logo was changed in 1999. Now it had a Catull typeface and was used from May 1999 to May 2010. This logo remained as Google’s official logo more than any other. There was slightly uplifted in this logo as we see it today.
Google May 6, 2010- Sept 18, 2013:
This logo was just a color upgrade from the last one that was Google’s official logo till 2010. The shadow of the logo was slightly less and the colors like Yellow of “O” was slightly changed with a different Hue. The logo was more flattened than ever before.
Google 19 Sept 2013- 1 Sept 2015:
This upgrade was also not so huge as there were no shadows in this upgrade from Google’s logo. It was used from October 2013 to August 2015. This design showed flattened letters of Google and removal of shadows entirely.
Google New and current Logo:
This sans-serif logo unveiled by Google as it’s Official Logo on September 1, 2015. It was the biggest change in Google’s logo since the first and the one with an exclamation mark. Google introduced this logo to look more user-friendly than ever. It looked a material designed a logo with some much simplicity. Google also changed favicons of its website and Apps.
